High Voltage Electrical Safety Course
Introduction:
Specialized maintenance, repair, testing, and safety procedures are necessary for high voltage electrical systems. It is crucial for personnel to receive training on specific precautions to ensure the safety of both individuals and the work environment.
In accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, training is mandatory for all qualified employees engaged in operations or maintenance work, as well as those with access to electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution installations.
Course Objectives:
This program is designed for maintenance personnel responsible for High Voltage electrical systems Dynamic and highly concentrated, this course places maximum emphasis on safety when working on or near energized electrical equipment Upon the successful completion of this course,
Participants will be able to:-
- Properly identify voltage levels, controls, and safety distances
- Conduct proper inspections
- Apply Lockout/Tag-out procedures and use equipment
- Ground equipment properly
- Use high voltage testers
- Identify and comply with the appropriate OSHA, NFPA, and European standards and regulation
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for electrical engineers, test technicians, industrial & utility electricians, technicians, and engineers exposed to voltages 138 KV & below. Supervisors or managers concerned with the safety of electrical workers will find this course especially useful in providing an insight into electrical safety. Course participants are introduced to the hazards of electrical work and the philosophies of preventing accidents and minimizing outage time due to improper safety or work practices. Also included as part of the curriculum are study materials participants may use at their own pace to continue their learning experience. This course addresses OSHA training requirements established in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269
